Empowering Voices Through Authentic Storytelling

Empowering Voices Through Authentic Storytelling

Hello

My name is Massimo, and I am a freelance video-maker, photographer, and trainer. I sincerely thank you for choosing to view this presentation. I am looking for new collaborations as an audiovisual content creator, trainer, and/or remote video editor.

Background

I have worked on various types of projects, including fiction, commercials, and documentaries. Over the past ten years, I have focused on the non-profit sector, producing multimedia content for NGOs and independent media in Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia, and the Balkans.

My Work

My mission is to create dignified content for those represented—content that is positive, free from prejudice, and capable of informing, generating impact, and delivering results for campaigns.
My studio is portable, fitting in my backpack, allowing me to create and deliver both video and photo content while on the go. I can handle multiple roles simultaneously, navigate critical environments with agility, and easily build trust.

Target Audience

  • NGOs: Humanitarian, environmental, social causes, peace-building, and science.
  • Charities: Groups needing storytelling to raise awareness or funds.
  • Educational institutions: For projects requiring educational or promotional content.
  • Governmental and international organizations: Collaborating on outreach and advocacy.
  • Social enterprises: Ventures that need impactful media for sustainability and awareness campaigns.
  • Cultural and community organizations: To highlight local or global community efforts.

Audiovisual Production

Context

Un Ponte Per, an organization active in the Middle East for over thirty years, promotes dialogue and peace. During this collaboration, I worked in refugee camps, developing authentic narratives that conveyed positive messages, such as the story of Alen, an eight-year-old Iraqi boy who, despite the hardships, displayed a strong will to live and dream. To achieve the NGO goals, I developed four different types of video outputs: call-to-action, visibility, reportage, and documentary.

Photography

I also documented the lives of refugees and internally displaced people through portraits and reportage photography. Here is a selection of photos and some of the publications (UPP Mag, Internazionale).

Challenges and Results

Challenges: In an environment marked by depression and instability, the idea of filming a spot where a refugee child imagines the surrounding world as a kingdom, quickly engaged many residents. The production became an example of guerrilla filmmaking, characterized by participation and creativity under pressure.

Results: The videos and the photos contributed to two national fundraising campaigns, enabling many children in the same situation as Alen to receive education, medicine, and food supplies. Today, Alen is back home with his family and is doing well, although he’s now a bit of a troublemaker at school.

Training

Context

Europe faces key challenges in areas like the environment, security, education, human rights, and employment. In response, an Erasmus+ advocacy project engaged 200 young activists from eight countries. This playlist showcases their outputs, including call-to-action videos, visibility content, and three proposals created after training in storytelling, copywriting, and video production.

Challenges and Results

Challenges: The project’s goal was ambitious: to present 27 policy-making proposals to the European Parliament. The activists submitted the proposals in both video and textual formats and presented them through 30 online conferences to nine Members of the European Parliament.

Results: The project has reached a significant audience, with 24K followers on Instagram, 16K on Facebook, and approximately 3.5 million online impressions.

Let’s Talk…

Call to Action

I am looking to collaborate with an organization whose mission is focused on creating positive change with seriousness and unwavering commitment.

I create engaging content that connects NGO topics with audiences who may be unaware or uneducated about these issues. I thrive in team environments, respect others’ skills, meet deadlines, and listen actively. Passionate about travel and cultural discovery, I speak four languages (Italian, English, Spanish, and Slovenian) and am equipped to produce and edit content on the go.

Not enough? Looking for a more comprehensive experience? I’d be happy to connect you with my talented friends and colleagues who specialize in impact strategy, social media communication, music, and web design/development.

If a remote video editor position, an on-site production or a training project aligned with your objectives becomes available, I would be happy to discuss in person how I could contribute to your team.

Thank you for your attention.
