NOVADROGA: Thru Hate & Anger

PERFORMANCE TYPE: Audiovisual performative act

PRODUCTION: Omissis, Dobialab, Novadroga

AUTHORS: Paolo Fagiolo (acting); Massimo Mucchiut and Roberto Leonarduzzi (image, projections); Andrea Gulli (electronics, music, feedback); Carlo Fontana (electronics, programming); Enrico Giletti (bass); Paolo Pascolo (flute, alto sax).

The performance explores themes such as racism, diversity, war, violence, pain and its expressions, intolerance, faith, fear, avoidance, and control—issues central to the human experience. These topics shape the narrative, which is delivered by actor Paolo Fagiolo through a collage of texts from classical and modern literature, theater, poetry, non-fiction, and contemporary news.
The fragmented writing style is reminiscent of fast-paced, obsessive video clips, produced and ensembled for the stage by visual artist Massimo Mucchiut. The performance is completed by the music and noises of band Res_et.
The result is a portrayal of a tortured, dangerous character who has nothing left to lose, exposing the dark, turbulent undercurrents of society. Through anger, hatred, and violent emotions, he communicates raw, anti-social instincts as a defense mechanism.
